Capital Women's Network Turns 48: Celebrating Our Story

The Capital Women's Network was founded in Tallahassee in 1978, when women were just beginning to move into management, law, accounting, medicine, and public office. Nearly five decades later, that founding purpose — helping women advance in business, the professions, and government — still guides everything we do.

Where we started

A handful of professional women gathered over lunch with a simple idea: that they could go further together than any of them could alone. From those first meetings grew a network that has since welcomed hundreds of members across every corner of the capital region.

Where we're going

Today CWN sponsors scholarships, mentorship circles, and a full calendar of programs — but the heart of it is still that first idea. When one woman rises, she reaches back and lifts the next.
